Lockable Gas Spring in Medical Industry

Lockable Gas Spring for Robotic Arm

So that it can ensure that the arm can stop operating at any time and anywhere, and it can also ensure that it can provide sufficient solid support when it stops.
Lockable Gas Spring for Medical bed
In medical industry, medical beds is very common. The traditional medical bed can only adjust the angle by putting some other objects on the patient’s back, such as a pillow, but if it is with gas spring, the adjustment of angle will be very convenient. The back plate, sitting plate and leg plate can be installed with lockable gas springs for supporting. It is worth mentioning that when the supporting structure is working, a larger supporting force is required to meet the force balance equation, and the lockable gas spring is required to have the largest supporting force. Therefore, in this field, the quality standard should be relatively high than that in other industries.

How to calculated the required gas spring force?
In our last video, we introduced how to measure a gas spring, how to measure two lengths and two diameters. And normally, we can see the force on the surface of the gas spring. But we can also know the required gas spring force by calculation.
Next, let me introduce how to calculate the force.
As you can see in the picture,
P, means the center of gravity. G, means the gravity,normally, gravity equals weight multiplied by 9.8 (G=mg, g=9.81). L, means the distance between hinge and P. D, means the distance between hinge and the gas spring, and the gas spring is in an extended state. N, means the number of gas springs
Now let’s take an example.
If the weight is 20kg, L is 500mm, D is 300mm, there are 2 gas springs
Next, Let’s change the condition,
If the gravity is 400N, L is 400mm, D is 200mm, there is 1 gas spring, can you calculate the right gas spring force?

Gas strut Height Adjustable Table
There are kinds of Gas strut Height Adjustable Table on the market.
They can be roughly divided into two types:
- Free-standing standing desk
Standing desks with gas springs, are called ‘pneumatic standing desk’. The gas struts are installed inside the two desk legs, and the user can push the handle or button to make the desktop up or down. Compared with electric standing desks, pneumatic standing desks are affordable and cost-effective. However the disadvantage is, to ensure a stable rise, the user needs to hold the desktop with both hands, and the user needs to spend a little effort to move down.
2. Standing desk riser
The standing desk riser, as the name suggests, is a small standing desk placed on your normal desk. At present, most of the standing desk risers on the market are with gas strut. With the help of gas spring and adjustable bracket structure, the standing desk riser can move up or down easily. The standing desk riser occupies a small space, and the price is more affordable, so it is also a good choice. The disadvantage is that the desktop area of the desk standing desk riser is generally not large, and users can’t put too many things on it.
