Gas spring end fittings and mounting brackets

By Lisa Lin

Here you will find a complete collection of the most frequently used gas spring (gas strut) end fittings and brackets with standard sizes. The mounting method can vary in applications. Different end fittings and brackets configurations are available for your choice.

  • End fitting common types are Ball joint, eyelet, clevis forks, etc.
  • Different material options are carbon steel, stainless steel, plastic, zinc alloy(casting), etc.

Peir provides standard sizes of end fittings and brackets for conventional compression gas springs, locking gas springs, and stainless steel gas springs. With skillful engineering capabilities and german-standard manufacturing processes, we custom gas springs for many renowned global clients with the most competitive prices and 1-to-1 service.

Different end fittings:

  • Ball joint (also called elbow joint)
  • Eyelet (also called blade type)
  • Clevis forks

Notes:

1. Ball joint includes a ball socket and a ball stud and typically has a spring clip to make it easy to assemble and disassemble
2. Eyelet type can be both welded or screwed onto both sides of gas spring,

Material and surface treatment options:

  • Ball joint types can be carbon steel, stainless steel, plastic, or composite material.
  • Eyelet type can be carbon steel or stainless steel, or zinc alloy.
  • Clevis type is usually made of carbon steel.

When made of carbon steel, it should have anti-corrosion surface treatment to protect in harsh environments, and a long lifetime. Common surface treatments are zinc plating, chrome plating, electrophoresis, and Dacromet. Dacromet has the best anti-rust performance, which can pass 500 hours salt spray test in our standard lab.
Here is an example of different end fittings on gas springs.

Actuators for locking gas spring.

For locking gas spring, there is a release pin on the rod side. An actuator is to trigger the release pin when movement is needed. Peir has several standard actuators for your choice.

Mounting brackets for gas spring

Besides the end fitting, sometimes mounting brackets are required to mount the gas spring into equipment. Here are some commonly used brackets for your choice which are made from steel sheets.
In most cases, the end fitting and mounting brackets in our catalog are sufficient for installation purposes. We also can customize an end fitting for you if required.
