How to choose a rotary damper model ?

Rotary damper is a with/ without gear device. It can control the speed of the device in motion. It absorbs and slows down the rotary motion to improve vibration, noise and wear of the machine parts. The rotary damper enables product to run in smooth mechanical movement.

  • They are available with fixed or adjustable damping rates.
    • The viscous grease in the body produces a resistant force on the moving parts. Rotary damper’s torque is determined by the viscosity of the grease and the oil contact area. Peir has more than 300 models of dampers. The smallest resistance can reach 20gf.cm, the largest resistance can reach 100kgf.cm.
  • The damping can be clockwise, anticlockwise or in both directions.
  • The outer body is either plastic or zinc alloy depending upon design purpose. Usually, while it requires high torque, using zinc alloy body will be better.
  • The output connection can be direct onto the shaft or indirect via a plastic gear. It all can be customized according to the actual application.
